Jim Smith

Jim is the founder of the Carpet Call group which commenced in 1975 with one store in Brisbane. The Carpet Call group acquired the Solomons Flooring franchise system in June 1996. Jim has expanded the Carpet Call and Solomons Flooring businesses throughout Australia, both with company-owned and franchise stores. Today Jim oversees a retail network of over 130 outlets with a turnover of over $200 million. As the former Managing Director and now Chairman, he has provided the drive and expertise for growth primarily in the sales and marketing area of the business. Prior to commencing the Carpet Call business, Jim was a highly successful Sales Manager for several Queensland retailers.
Jack McClane
National Franchise Manager
Jack McClane is a seasoned franchise expert having worked for iconic brands including Domino’s and Bakers Delight over a successful 30-year franchising career. He joined the Floor Stores group in 2016. Jack’s experience working with franchisees from recruitment to training has resulted in many franchisees developing successful businesses. He is committed to protecting the brand, growing sales and improving profits. He has been held in high regard by all franchise groups he has worked with for his passion, dedication and work ethic. Jack has worked in every Australian state and with his extensive experience, he knows how to lead the franchise division with mutual respect for all business partners. Jack’s primary responsibility is the growth of the Solomons and Carpet Call franchise business through expansion and organic sales increases. He is hands on with all aspects of managing the business including marketing, recruitment, development, training and operations.
Michael Harrison
Managing Director
Michael joined Carpet Call in 2004 and since then he has worked his way through all facets of the business, covering sales, product development and strategy. His extensive experience in managing the product profile, business strategies and through innovation, both brands excelled during the pandemic with record growth, which also included the opening of the successful Mega Blinds assembly plant in Melbourne. Michael has a passion for the business and strives to continue to see growth across all divisions and seeing the team grow and develop into the Australia’s best floor, wall and window covering experts.
